Describe what you plan to write about

The aim is to convince the reader that your essay has covered all the most important arguments about the issue and that your main premise is the best position on the issue.

Remind the reader of the main ideas that were discussed in the essay

Below are some helpful hints to get you on your way towards becoming an impression master!

Give background information on your topic (when appropriate)

This technique moves the reader from the specifics of a paper or essay to a larger, perhaps even universal, point. It redirects the readers, giving them something meaty to chew over. You can demonstrate the importance and broad significance of your topic by using an appropriate analogy, tying the topic to a larger philosophic or political issue, posing a challenging question, or encouraging the reader to look to the future.

Establish a connection between the writer and the audience

Here, a writer circles back to the beginning, returning to the metaphor, image, anecdote, quotation, or example he or she used in the introductory paragraph. Echoing the introduction gives essays a nice sense of unity and completion.

Give the reader some idea of how you plan to discuss or approach your topic

The conclusion of an essay has three major parts:

Writing a reflective essay outline would help you know what to write. It also helps in organizing the paragraphs so they flow smoothly. When you write an outline, you will think about what you want to include in the essay. You can easily reorganize it if you feel that there is a better flow. Because the topics are already arranged, you should be able to save time in writing the essay itself. Many people spend a lot of time when writing an essay because they cannot decide what to write next. If you have an outline, you will just have to follow it and elaborate it to finish your essay.

The following example conclusion contains all three components:

You have two options when creating an outline. You can create a topic or sentence outline unless you are making it as required by your teacher who specified the type of outline that you have to make. The main difference between the two is that the sentence outline must be stated in complete sentences while the topic outline can be a phrase that describes what you want to write.

Tie up any loose ends by resolving any unresolved questions, statements, or ideas

You should present any new arguments in your conclusion.

Not every essay can end on this note. Shorter essays (those below 1200 words) do not have enough space available to describe the significance in detail. However, if you are looking for a dynamic way to end your essay a broader statement on the big picture can be highly effective.
